Troubling reports have emerged out of Mexico that claim Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena has been arrested after allegedly attempting to abduct his daughter.
Earlier this year, Randy Arozarena was viewed as a hero in Tampa Bay, as his postseason magic helped the Rays go on an unlikely run to the World Series. Now, troubling reports have surfaced that are sure to lose him plenty of fans.
That’s because journalists in Mexico are reporting Arozarena has been arrested after trying to forcibly take his daughter away from his ex-wife. At the same time, the outfielder got into it with his ex-father in law, beating him up in the process. What a mess.

Per news outlet Yucatan Ahora, Arozarena arrived to his ex-wife’s home with gifts to bring his daughter. Moments later, however, things changed as Arozarena used force to take the little girl out of the home. When his ex-wife and her father tried stopping him, the Rays standout didn’t stop and delivered a powerful punch to the elderly man.
Per Yucatan Ahora, the neighbors of Arozarena’s ex-wife heard all of the commotion and raced out of their homes to try and calm the situation, while telling Arozarena he was in the wrong. Things escalated and the neighbors helped stop Arozarena at a stoplight. Police then arrived to the scene soon after.
Arozarena is getting ready to begin his third campaign in the bigs. His 2020 was unforgettable, as he earned ALCS MVP honors after blasting four homers against the Astros, including a key two-run blasts in Game 7 of the series, which Tampa Bay went on to win.
Now, however, he’s in some serious trouble with the law following his most-recent actions. It’s up in the air if MLB will discipline him for his actions, but things surely aren’t looking good for him.
