Several teams should be calling the Colorado Rockies about a Trevor Story trade.
The Colorado Rockies have missed the playoffs each of the past two seasons and may be looking to make some changes. The team already signed Nolan Arenado to a huge deal and almost immediately looked at trade offers.
Shortstop Trevor Story is now the next big name showing up in trade rumors. His case is different as he will be a free agent following the 2021 season. If the Rockies don’t intend to pay him, a trade makes the most sense this offseason. There are several teams out there who must call the Rockies about a trade for the two-time All-Star.
3 teams that should call about Trevor Story
3. Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays are a team featuring a dominant young core of talent. They even qualified for the postseason in 2020 well ahead of schedule, which was in part thanks to the shortened season. Shortstop is one area that could use an upgrade and landing Story with the goal of making him a long-term piece would be a huge win in Toronto.
Bo Bichette is 22 years old and at least right now is the future at shortstop. However, he can be moved to second base and fellow young up-and-comer Cavan Biggio can stick in the outfield for the ideal alignment.
The Blue Jays should at least make the call. Story is a proven star at shortstop and could end up being the veteran centerpiece with the rising stars all around him. He is still only 28 years old himself so he could be around for a long time as the Blue Jays look to be contenders throughout the coming decade.
