Adam Eaton hung up on a Chicago radio station after they asked a Tony LaRussa question

Adam Eaton hung up the phone during a radio interview after signing with the White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox got the hot stove roaring again Tuesday afternoon by signing outfielder Adam Eaton to a one-year deal. He spent 2014-2016 with the White Sox and returns after winning a World Series in Washington.

Eaton was making the usual rounds Tuesday and was on ESPN 1000 in Chicago when his phone abruptly cut out. This came after he was asked a question about manager Tony La Russa being able to relate to younger players. Good first impressions all around!

Eaton ends his interview early

There are two sides to this situation. The first is Eaton knowing he is being goaded into providing some sort of juicy answer that can be twisted. He knows the La Russa storyline has been talked about at length by now and the hosts may want to get him to bite.

The other side is Eaton could have just answered the question with a simple answer. Hanging up the phone is a bit childish and just builds up drama for the media to discuss.

The discussion surrounding La Russa is not going to fade away any time soon, even if players refuse to discuss the matter. He was a controversial hire, DUI issues aside, and is going to need to prove he can relate to younger players in today’s game.

Is La Russa going to clash with Tim Anderson over the rising star flashing some personality on the field? That is a legitimate question, but also one Eaton doesn’t need to answer at this point in time.

The White Sox appeared to be building something special on the South Side. Now there is the usual drama that surrounds a team ready to contend. Fans are now hoping all the distractions are left behind in 2020.
