It was not that long ago the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series.
The Tampa Bay Rays are having a hard time trying to forget about what happened in the 2020 World Series vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.
When the Dodgers quote tweeted SportsCenter with them winning the World Series in response to “What was your favorite sports moment of 2020?”, the Rays responded with a tweet from July 28 superimposed over a Stephen A. Smith graphic, needing only four letters to get their point across: Pain. What a great MLB postseason it was in 2020. Too bad the Rays did not win it.
What are the chances the Rays get back to the Fall Classic?
Though Tampa Bay had star players emerge this October like outfielder Randy Arozarena, two-thirds of their starting rotation is now playing elsewhere. Veteran right-hander Charlie Morton signed with the Atlanta Braves, while former left-handed Cy Young winner Blake Snell was traded to the San Diego Padres just this past week. All we know is the Rays’ roster will look very different.
As for if the Rays can win the American League again? I mean, they could, but it is more likely the Dodgers represent the National League in next October’s Fall Classic. Then again, the Braves and Padres are formidable challengers to the Dodgers for 2021. While it is not as clear as to who will win the American League in 2021, there is a chance it could somehow be the Rays for all we know.
When the Rays think of the Dodgers winning the World Series, they only think of pain.
