Mets fans are freaking out over Francisco Lindor trade, and rightfully so

As you might imagine, New York Mets fans are losing their minds on Twitter after it was announced the club acquired Francisco Lindor.

If you’re living in Queens and are hearing parties breaking out from people’s homes, don’t be alarmed. They’re surely reacting to the enormous news that the New York Mets have gone out and landed star shortstop Francisco Lindor via a monster trade with the Cleveland Indians.

The Mets had been mentioned in multiple reports as serious threats to land the four-time All-Star and on Thursday, the front office was able to pull off some magic and get things done. As you might imagine, Mets fans have taken over Twitter since the news broke. They really couldn’t be happier right now.

This most certainly was a nice mid-week surprise. I mean seriously, who expected this kind of a blockbuster to drop today? For Mets fans, it really does feel like they’re celebrating Christmas for the second time in the past three weeks.

Lindor is without question one of the best shortstops in the game. As much as it does suck that New York sent Amed Rosario to Cleveland as part of the deal, fans will get over it knowing Lindor’s big bat and incredible glove will be manning short for years to come.

For now, all we can do is hope that Citi Field will allow fans to be in attendance at some point this season. Watching Lindor light up the stadium during his first year in Queens is only going to make things even sweeter for everyone.
