With the Chicago Cubs potentially looking to deal Kris Bryant, which teams should reach out and make the club an offer?
Once again, it looks like the Chicago Cubs may be ready to part ways with star third baseman Kris Bryant. Per a report, the team has opened up talks with clubs to potentially trade the standout infielder.
While the slugger clearly loves Chicago, it’s looking like he may end up leaving town before the 2021 campaign gets underway. Here’s a look at three teams who should pick up the phone as soon as possible to try and land him.
3. New York Mets
Ever since Steve Cohen took over as owner of the New York Mets, the NL East club has let the baseball world know they mean business. Such was the case when the team pulled off a blockbuster trade to bring Francisco Lindor to Flushing. So, how about bringing in Bryant as well?
Imagine Bryant at third and Lindor at shortstop? That’d be one hell of a duo and it’d tell Mets fans this team really is serious about being competitive once again in the NL East. It’s certainly been a bit of a struggle in recent years for New York, but you can feel like things are about to turn.
While Bryant alone wouldn’t fix the team’s problems on offense, he’d be a great bat for the middle of the lineup. Baseball could get exciting again at Citi Field if the Mets trade for Bryant. If Cohen hasn’t picked up the phone already, he should.
