Atlanta Braves outfield prospect Cristian Pache’s latest comments prove that Ender Inciarte might be the best teammate ever.
The Atlanta Braves enter another season with high expectations after they blew a 3-1 series lead to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. During that postseason run, the Braves placed prized outfield prospect, Cristian Pache, to their roster. With Spring Training underway, Pache is on the verge of becoming the Braves’ starting center fielder in the 2021 season, whether that occurs on Opening Day or a little down the road.
But where does that leave Ender Inciarte? Well, you can call him the best teammate ever, as Pache said that the veteran outfielder gave him advice and worked with him every single year.
Ender Inciarte’s a great teammate
If these comments proved anything, it is that Inciarte might be the most selfless player in the league. With Pache set to essentially take starts away from him, that did not stop Inciarte in helping the youngster develop his game.
Inciarte struggled at the plate during the 2020 truncated season. Through 46 games, Inciarte slashed .190/.262/.250 while recording one home run, 10 RBI and 22 hits.
On Aug. 21, Pache was called up to the major league roster to start in left field against the Philadelphia Phillies. The young outfielder would go one-for-four with a hit and two strikeouts before being optioned back to the team’s alternate training site. But, Pache was placed on the team’s postseason roster.
Pache started for the Braves during the aforementioned NLCS against the Dodgers. In fact, the outfielder hit his first career home run in Game 3 of the series, but it came in a 15-3 loss. In 12 games, Paches recorded a .182 batting average, a .644 OPS, one home run, four RBI, four runs scored and four hits.
The Braves’ starting outfield this upcoming season could very well consist of Ronald Acuna Jr., Marcell Ozuna and Pache. Even though his chances to play would be limited, that did not stop Inciarte from lending a helping hand to a prospect hoping to make it big in MLB.
