Diamondbacks lose pitcher Jon Duplantier to freak shaving injury

The Arizona Diamondbacks will be without pitcher Jon Duplantier on Thursday after he accidentally cut his finger while trying to shave.

You just can’t make this stuff up. On Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks were all ready to send pitcher Jon Duplantier out to the bump for some spring training action, but unfortunately, he’s out due to injury. Not just any kind of an injury, though.

It’s been revealed that the right-handed pitcher cut his finger on Sunday night while trying to put his razor together. So, he injured himself while trying to shave? Unbelievable.

Diamondbacks pitcher Jon Duplantier isn’t able to pitch on Monday after suffering a strange injury

What in the world are the baseball Gods trying to tell the Diamondbacks and their fans right now? An injury while trying to shave is simply unheard of and is the worst of luck. Fortunately for Duplantier, the injury he suffered isn’t a serious one and he’s not expected to miss extended action.

At the same time, Diamondbacks skipper Torey Lovullo has to hope that nothing like this happens again this year for his righty. Duplantier has appeared in 15 games for the Diamondbacks since making his way to the bigs back in 2019.

This spring, he’s hoping to make a name for himself and be a regular contributor throughout the 2021 campaign. In order for that to happen, he’s going to have to stay healthy. Meanwhile for Arizona as a whole, the club is hoping to bounce back after a rough 2020 season.

Last year, the team finished in dead last of the NL West with its 25-35 record. Once the new campaign arrives, fans are hoping they can get off to a hot start. This shaving injury surely won’t boost the excitement for the supporters, however.
