Red Sox: The biggest x-factor to returning to playoffs

In order for the Boston Red Sox to return to their old form and make noise in the AL East, they need Chris Sale to have a big year in 2021.

After a nightmare 2020 campaign in which they finished in last place of the AL East standings, the Boston Red Sox are hoping for a major turnaround this upcoming season. With Alex Cora back in the clubhouse, the fans have high expectations for the team.

With that being said, it will be on the guys on the field to help get the Red Sox to back where they belong by making noise in the division and going on a deep postseason run. In order for that to happen, Boston hurler Chris Sale will need to return to form and sit down batters with consistency this year.

All eyes will be on Chris Sale this season for the Boston Red Sox

It goes without saying, but the Red Sox need to see a big improvement in their pitching. It all starts with Sale, when healthy and at the top of his game, Sale is no doubt one of the best starters out there. While he’ll miss the start of ’21, he’s itching to get back as soon as possible.

He unfortunately missed the 2020 campaign after undergoing Tommy John Surgery. Now, though, he’s recovered form his injury and worked around the clock in his rehab after going under the knife. With Sale ready for a big year, the Boston faithful can’t wait to see what he can do.

Back in 2019, Sale had a bit of a rough year, going 6-11 with a 4.40 ERA. The year before, however, Sale was brilliant, going 12-4 with a 2.11 ERA. He made the All-Star game that campaign too. We’ll see what 2021 has in store for Sale, but there’s definitely high hopes for the lefty.
