Astros won’t follow the Rangers’ lead with fan attendance.
Even though Texas Governor Greg Abbott has issued an order lifting the mask mandate and increasing the capacity of all businesses in Texas to 100 percent, that doesn’t mean everyone is jumping at the chance to get back to normal. The Houston Astros are one of those who are taking it slowly in regards to fans this season.
Tickets for the 2021 season will go on sale on Wednesday but the capacity for Minute Maid Park will be set at 50 percent … at least for April. The ballpark confirmed with multiple media outlets that it would re-evaluate the capacity for May and on.
The Texas Rangers are allowing 100 percent capacity
This is in stark contrast to the full capacity the Texas Rangers announced for their April 5 home opener at Globe Life Field. Additionally, the UFC will head to the Toyota Center and also allow fans in the arena.
The Astros are set to play the Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland Athletics in California, one of the strictest of the states allowing only about 20 percent capacity.
