Jayce Tingler gives fantastic update on Fernando Tatis Jr.

San Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler gave an update on Fernando Tatis Jr. that fans everywhere are going to love.

On Tuesday, there was some major concern for the San Diego Padres when superstar shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. left the spring training game after injuring himself on a routine throw. Immediately, Padres fans began to panic he might miss Opening Day. It’s not looking like that will be the case.

Fast forward to Wednesday and skipper Jayce Tingler has come out and said that Tatis Jr. is doing just fine and should be back in the lineup in the coming days.

Fernando Tatis Jr. doesn’t have a serious injury and should return to the lineup soon

Talk about a complete and total relief for San Diego. Tatis Jr. hurt himself throwing the ball to first base, with the play being something he’s done in his sleep. However, after making the toss, he was in discomfort and had to leave the game.

Luckily, he was just a little banged up and there’s nothing else to see here. Tingler even revealed that Tatis Jr. was hoping to be able to play on Wednesday, but the team has decided to play things safe here and will give him a couple of days off.

Soon, though, Tatis Jr. will be back at shortstop and in the heart of the San Diego lineup where he belongs. The slugger enters the 2021 campaign with plenty of hype, especially after he and the Padres agreed to a blockbuster 14-year, $340 million contract back in February. With the Padres hoping to make some serious noise in the NL this season too, you better believe Tatis Jr. will be playing a monster role in how things turn out for the club.
