The Dodgers and Royals surprisingly have one impressive stat in common so far in 2021.
The Los Angeles Dodgers always come to mind when discussing the best teams in baseball this season. But don’t count the Kansas City Royals out of that conversation as well.
The Dodgers enter Monday with a 13-3 record and two impressive win streaks so far this year. The Royals, meanwhile, are 9-5 and atop the American League Central division. So what do these two teams have in common?
Taking either team down in a series has proved to be impossible thus far.
Dodgers and Royals are winning series left and right
Los Angeles begins what should be a competitive series Monday night against a Seattle Mariners team that is actually off to an impressive 10-6 start. Whether the hot start fades or not is the annual question with that team.
Kansas City is in action against an always tough Tampa Bay Rays squad.
The Royals are the real surprise here. The AL Central is supposed to be a three-team race between the Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox, and Cleveland Indians. But the Royals decided to spend money this offseason and that is paying off so far.
Salvador Perez looks like his old self and new arrival Carlos Santana is picking up where he left off during his time in Cleveland. What was supposed to be a three-team race could add a fourth member, or the Royals could even knock one of the other three out with so many head-to-head victories.
The San Diego Padres remain the Dodgers’ top competition not only in the National League West, but in the entire league itself. The Dodgers were able to take two of three from their rival over the weekend in what looks like it could be the best series in all of baseball this season.
And for years to come for that matter.
Fans in Los Angeles will expect this current trend to keep going. Fans in Kansas City may not be expecting the same, but are hoping for the best.
