In an interesting turn of events, Yankees legend Reggie Jackson is joining the Houston Astros organization to help with the team’s charity work.
Reggie Jackson is a New York Yankees legend through and through. Known as Mr. October, Jackson has recorded some of the biggest hits in postseason history for the Bronx Bombers. Seriously, the man is loved across all the boroughs in New York City.
However, it looks like Jackson will be donning a new cap. On Thursday, it was revealed that Jackson has accepted a new role with the Houston Astros. Yankees fans everywhere surely are heartbroken to hear about this.
Reggie Jackson has accepted a new role with the Houston Astros
Jackson will be helping out with the Astros’ charity efforts. Jackson is no stranger to the AL West powerhouse, as the former slugger is close friends with team owner Jim Crane. Jackson was also seen several times at Houston’s spring training. Now, he’s ready to officially become a member of the organization and make a difference.
Again, this is a bummer for Yankees fans everywhere. There’s plenty of beef between the Astros and New York, especially after the sign-stealing scandal that rocked MLB. Regardless, Jackson is all set to make an impact with his new team.
On the field, the Astros have been off to a rough start thus far this campaign, as they’re 13-12 on the year and currently sit in fourth place of the AL West standings. It’s not what skipper Dusty Baker was hoping for, but the lineup and rotation is simply too good for Houston to stay inconsistent throughout the summer.
Off the field, they’re making some big plays, with the addition of Jackson surely being a home-run hire for the organization.
