The San Francisco Giants have made history, as the club announced they’ll include pride colors on jerseys to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.
June is here and that means that it’s officially pride month. Across the country, star athletes are showing their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Now, the San Francisco Giants have made the decision to take things a step further.
On Tuesday, the club announced that they’re going to make history, as they’re going to feature pride colors for their on-field uniforms during a game. This is something we’ve never seen before. The Giants are ready to change that.
The Giants will be wearing pride colors and a logo for a game this week
On their Twitter account, the Giants indeed announced that they’ll not only be donning pride colors, but also a logo to kickoff pride month. Those colors/logo will be showcased for San Francisco’s game against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
“We are extremely proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community as we kickoff one of the best annual celebrations in San Francisco by paying honor to the countless achievements and contributions of all those who identify as LGBTQ+ and are allies of the LGBTQ+ community,” Giants CEO Larry Baer said.
Kudos to the Giants for stepping up here and making quite the impact. This is truly something we’ve never seen before, but the San Francisco organization as a whole is ready to step up and change pride month in the game as we know it.
On the field, the Giants are in the middle of a sensational campaign, as they’ve posted a 34-20 record. San Francisco is 0.5 games ahead of the Padres in the NL West standings and two games in front of the Dodgers. With the latest announcement, it’s clear the Giants are winning both on and off the field.
