At the Chicago Cubs vs. San Diego Padres showdown, a fan rushed the field and was tackled by security.
The folks at Wrigley Field on Wednesday sure got more than what they bargained for. That’s because in the middle of the showdown between the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres, a guard lowered his shoulder and delivered quite the hit on a fan who got by security and ran onto the field.
In the video below, you can indeed see the random person getting decked. To make things even more interesting, the person was holding a ‘Jesus is Lord’ sign. Alrighty then.
Someone rushed the field at Wrigley Field and got leveled by an umpire
If Matt Nagy was on hand at Wrigley, he may want to give that guard a shot at linebacker come next season. Hey, maybe this will be enough to scare Aaron Rodgers away for good and force him into an early retirement. In all seriousness, what in the world was that fan thinking?
They basically ran right down the middle of the field and had no shot of trying to get away. The unknown guard used quite the form tackle to end this drama too. Kudos to the folks in the stands who were able to capture this on camera too. We wouldn’t have been able to enjoy this laugh without it.
As for the action on the field, the Cubs have dominated the Padres in this one and are on track to improve their record to 32-23 on the year. Entering Wednesday’s meeting, Chicago held a 0.5 game lead over the Cardinals for the NL Central lead. That battle figures to last all the way through September, while the Brewers are hungry to win the division as well.
