Cincinnati Reds slugger Joey Votto didn’t hold back going after St. Louis Cardinals fans, bashing a select few who were talking smack earlier this year.
The Cincinnati Reds are riding high right now after they just did the unthinkable going up against the St. Louis Cardinals. Last week, the Reds completed at four-game sweep at Busch Stadium. It was the first time Cincinnati had traveled to St. Louis and swept the Cards since 1990. Goodness.
For stud Joey Votto, things were quite special for him — and personal. Votto revealed that earlier in the year when St. Louis swept Cincy, fans at Busch Stadium were talking plenty of noise. Now, however, the shoe is on the other foot.
Joey Votto didn’t hold back in completely going after Cardinals fans
“We had some s**t-talking mother-f**kers in St. Louis after the first series sweep,” Votto said with passion. “It’s nice to go to their road ballpark and let them have it. How’d you like that?”
Whoa, Votto indeed went above and beyond to let everyone know just how angry he feels toward the St. Louis fans. He’s no stranger to having some fun/beef with opposing supporters, but this feels like he took things to a new level.
We of course know that Cincinnati and St. Louis are big-time NL Central rivals. The fanbases hate one another. Votto knows this too well, which is why he was probably even sending some messages to those in St. Louis during this latest sweep. In case people didn’t hear him, Votto made sure to be loud and clear this week in ripping those folks who love the Cards.
The next time Cincinnati travels to St. Louis, Votto better expect plenty of hate to come his way. If you ask people in St. Louis, he sure deserves it.
