Atlanta Braves fans get good news about Mike Soroka, Travis d’Arnaud and Huascar Ynoa.
In a season that has been nothing short of painfully frustrating, the Atlanta Braves are finally getting some good news on the injury front, regarding Mike Soroka, Travis d’Arnaud and Huascar Ynoa.
Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos met with the media on Monday ahead of their series vs. the Boston Red Sox. He said Soroka could potentially be back by late August. Anthopoulos anticipates d’Arnaud and Ynoa to return sometime in August as well. Soroka has been battling back from a torn Achilles. D’Arnaud has a busted thumb. Ynoa broke his hand out of frustration.
For a team that has not been above .500 all season long, this is too much good news to stomach.
Braves injury update on Mike Soroka, Travis d’Arnaud, Huascar Ynoa
While Braves Country probably expected d’Arnaud and Ynoa to return at some point this season, hearing Soroka may return sounds too good to be true. Frankly, until he is toeing the rubber for Atlanta in a game that counts, I’ll believe it when I see it. As far as getting d’Arnaud and Ynoa back in the next two months, that could be a huge boost for a Braves team in need of a major spark.
D’Arnaud won a Silver Slugger in his first year as the Atlanta backstop. While William Contreras has played well in his extend absence, he is a bit of a liability behind the plate. D’Arnaud’s return could help offset not having Marcell Ozuna going forward, too. And with Ynoa, he had been a strong presence in the back-end of Atlanta’s rotation prior to embarrassingly breaking his hand.
With too much good news for one sitting, look for Braves Country to be in rare form right now.
