Jarren Duran’s walk-off blast proves Red Sox should promote him tomorrow (Video)

Red Sox prospect Jarren Duran’s awesome 10th inning walk-off homer for Worcester in Triple-A ball is proof Boston should bring up the young outfielder.

It’s time for the Red Sox to promote Jarren Duran.

The centerfielder at Worcester is having a promising season in Triple-A and looks good enough to get a look in Boston.

If there was any doubt about that, check out his walk-off blast to break the deadlock in the 10th inning.

The Red Sox can use Jarren Duran as new blood in the outfield

Duran is the Red Sox No. 3 prospect and he’s playing like it right now. Sunday’s three-run homer was his second in the last two games. In June, he’s batting .300/.397/.600 with four home runs. That was before his biggest highlight yet.

According to the Boston Globe, Duran used the 2020 pandemic break to overhaul his swing, focusing on adding power to his repertoire. The change paid off clearly. He’s hit 12 home runs in total in 2021. He had never hit more than five in a season before this.

Boston should take notice.

Two weeks ago, Alex Cora called Duran “a guy we really like,” but the manager wasn’t in a rush to bring the 24-year-old up. The urgency might change with Duran maintaining his level.

The Red Sox could use an infusion with Duran as a leadoff batter. He could also bring something different to the outfield, which looks like it could use an upgrade.

He may not be the immediate answer, but at some point, Boston will need to give him a chance to see what he’s got at the MLB level.

The Red Sox have taken possession of first place in the AL East with a 43-28 record and a half-game lead over the Rays. We’ll have to see what they’re willing to do to shore up their playoff hopes.
