The Miami Marlins rookies had to go on a Wrigleyville coffee run ahead of their road game vs. the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
If you happened to be out and about in Wrigleyville on Saturday morning before the Chicago Cubs game, there is a chance you might have seen the Miami Marlins rookie going on a coffee run together.
If you ever had any doubt what fish run on, well, they clearly run on Dunkin’. With Wrigleyville having gotten rid of both Starbucks locations for some stupid reason in the last three years, it is all about the Dunkin Donuts or Do-Rite Donuts on Addison near the intersection with Sheffield. While rookie hazing is starting to be phased out of professional sports, rookie coffee runs are the best.
Check out these photos of the Marlins rookies getting coffee at the Wrigleyville Dunkin’ Donuts.

Maybe this coffee run will do just the trick to wake these sleepy Marlins up? Miami has the worst record in the NL East at 30-39 entering Saturday’s road game at the Cubs. The only teams with a worse record than them in the National League this season are the Pittsburgh Pirates at 24-44 and the Arizona Diamondbacks at 20-51. Keep in mind the Fish made the postseason last year.
In fact, Miami overcame a major COVID-19 outbreak to become the second-place finisher in the 2020 NL East standings. Miami defeated the NL Central-winning Cubs in their best-of-three NL Wild Card series. Though the Fish bowed out in the NLDS vs. the division rival Atlanta Braves, Miami has not played up to its potential it displayed from a season ago. The coffee has to work.
If the entire Marlins roster has the jitters on Saturday afternoon, you know the reason why now.
