At the Midsummer Classic, four-year-old Charlie Freeman finally got to meet his favorite baseball player.
Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman brought along his young son to the 2021 MLB Home Run Derby. Watch this adorable moment from the dugout at Coors Field where Charlie Freeman got to meet his baseball idol: Fernando Tatis Jr.
Charlie was over the moon excited, and honestly, we’re sure Freeman understands. Tatis is one of the biggest names in baseball’s next generation of talent. At 22, the flashy shortstop has already won a Silver Slugger award and signed one of the richest contracts in MLB history. Alongside Shohei Ohtani, Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Ronald Acuna Jr., Tatis is likely to be the face of the league for the next few years.

Introducing his son to Tatis was the top priority for Freeman during his fifth All-Star week. In the clubhouse before the Home Run Derby, the 2020 National League MVP told Tatis making Charlie happy was the one job of the day.
As the son of a former Major League ballplayer himself, Fernando Tatis Jr. has been in similar situations as a child. He was more than happy to take time for a hug and some photos with young Charlie, who has the strongest handshake of any four-year-old we’ve ever seen.
It was a heartwarming moment sure to make any baseball fan smile.
