Red Sox call up another prospect ahead of Yankees series

In addition to bringing up prized outfielder Jarren Duran ahead of the Yankees series, Red Sox prospect Tanner Houck is also headed to the big show.

It’s been a busy week for the Boston Red Sox and providing life-changing news for some of their top prospects. First, the front office reached out to stud outfielder Jarren Duran telling him to pack his bags for the Bronx leading up to a huge series against the Yankees.

Now, pitcher Tanner Houck is also on his way to New York, with news breaking on Thursday that he’s also been called up. This of course is exciting news for them and Red Sox supporters.

Both Tanner Houck and Jarren Duran have been called up to face the Yankees

Houck, on Boston’s 40-man roster, is no stranger to big-league action in 2021. He’s made two starts for the team this season, posting an 0-2 mark and a 4.35 ERA. Last season, Houck made his MLB debut and appeared in three games. He really turned heads, going 3-0 with a 0.53 ERA. Last year really gave Boston fans hope for what he’d be able to do in the future.

Alex Cora had previously hinted at Houck playing a big role in the rotation after the All-Star break. Now, we may not have to wait long to see him go out and make another start. This isn’t the only good news for Boston’s rotation, as Chris Long also recorded his first rehab assignment on Thursday.

With the team sitting pretty at 55-36 and in first place of the AL East standings – eight games ahead of the fourth-place Yankees – it’s really been a season to remember thus far. It’s looking like things are only going to get better this summer and fall.
