Tampa Bay Rays fans tried to unfurl a pro-Trump banner during a game at Tropicana Field, but the attempt turned into a giant fail.
What happened when some Tampa Bay Rays fans brought a giant “Trump Won” banner to Tropicana Field?
A giant fail.
A video taken from the stands shows how the fans dropped the flag over the second-level railing, but it didn’t stay up for long. A security guard from down below grabbed hold of the bottom of the banner and pulled it down. A cheer erupted from the crowd in response.
Supporters of the former president who lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden have taken to dropping “Trump Won” flags at baseball games throughout the season, so this isn’t anything new.
A man who went to multiple ballparks to pull the stunt was banned by MLB from all 30 major league parks. Since that man told followers on Twitter to follow in his footsteps, expect this kind of thing to continue happening.
That probably means more videos of security intervening as well.
Rays fans who tried to hang pro-Trump banner absolutely failed
This incident happened as the Orioles, who are in last place in the AL East, ran away with a 6-1 win over the Rays on Monday night. Rookie pitcher Spenser Watkins had a strong outing, striking out seven while making it six innings with just one run conceded. Baltimore scored two runs in the first and three in the sixth to build a commanding lead. The Orioles have now won three games in a row.
Tampa Bay is looking to keep things tight at the top of the division. They are 1.5 games behind the first-place Red Sox after a strong run, winning eight of their last 11 games. They’ll have the chance for revenge over Baltimore on Tuesday evening, with or without more shenanigans from Trump supporters.
