Shohei Ohtani adds insane speed to increasing list of things he does well (Video)

Los Angeles Angels two-way player Shohei Ohtani showed off his speed while running to first base during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Mariners.

Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels was the star of the first half of the 2021 MLB season. With the All-Star break over, Ohtani showed that he is still the heavy favorite to win the AL MVP award, especially during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Mariners.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ohtani hit a ground ball to first baseman Ty France in what looked to be an easy out. The thing is, the Angels two-way player ran full speed to first and touched the bag just in time to be called safe.

Despite the unreal show of speed, Ohtani was left stranded on first, as Jared Walsh and Max Strassi struck out in succession to end the inning with the Mariners maintaining their 6-2 lead.

Ohtani did eventually help get the Angels on the board in the bottom of the ninth inning, where he clobbered a two-run homer to the right-center field stands, cutting their deficit to 7-4. That would, however, be the final score of the contest. This was also Ohtani’s 34th home run of the year, which leads the majors.

Despite the loss, Ohtani had a great day at the plate and on the base paths.
