Giants chanted MVP after this Brandon Crawford play (Video)

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford made an incredible diving play at second to the delight of fans at Oracle Park.

Brandon Crawford is a beast at shortstop.

Just ask the New York Mets, who fell victim to an outrageous defensive play from the San Francisco Giants infielder on Wednesday.

Crawford’s diving, twisting toss to second base had fans at Oracle Park chanting “M-V-P!”

To be able to chase down that ball, stretch out to snatch it in his glove, then flip it accurately to his teammate at second is just incredible stuff from Crawford.

Don’t downplay the clutch factor either. Crawford did that in the top of the ninth inning right after the game was tied 1-1 on a sacrifice fly.

Brandon Crawford’s defensive play was the highlight for the Giants

Unfortunately for Crawford and the Giants, a lot more defense was needed in extra innings.

Both sides scored in the 11th after a scoreless 10th inning. In the top of the 12th, things fell apart for San Francisco. Kevin Pillar smacked a three-run homer and Chance Sisco piled on an RBI double to give the Mets a commanding 6-2 lead. The Giants had no answers and ultimately lost.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for SF and denied them a series sweep against New York. They’ve still won nine of the last 11, so they remain in a strong spot in the NL West. The Dodgers are 3.5 games behind.

It was a very welcome win for the Mets. They were on a five-game losing streak and finally ended their skid with the extra-inning drama. They’ll stay in California to face the Dodgers in a series that the Giants should be watching closely.

San Francisco will head a short way on the road to battle the Oakland Athletics next.
