Mets fans ready to leave Edwin Diaz at Nationals Park after blown save

New York Mets fans are at their wits end with closer Edwin Diaz after he blew a save against the Washington Nationals on Friday.

If you thought the Mets’ woes had finally calmed down, think again.

New York had a date with Washington on Friday and looked set to grab their fifth-straight win when Edwin Diaz took the mound and reminded fans why they’ve been so frustrated with him all season.

The Mets had a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. The Nationals forced extra innings with a first-pitch home run from Juan Soto and an RBI double.

Mets fans have had it with Edwin Diaz

What should have been a routine closing opportunity against a bad team turned into a bad time for New York.

The good news for Diaz is his teammates had his back. They came out in the top of the 10th and scored four runs.

The surge at the plate was definitely welcome in this scenario, but Diaz’s blown save won’t have any Mets fans sleeping tighter this September.

They may be able to get away with that one against the Nationals, but when they play other teams vying for the postseason it won’t be so easy.
