Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo just became part owner of the Milwaukee Brewers

Giannis is already the most popular man in Milwaukee. Now that he’s a part-owner of the Milwaukee Brewers, he may never pay for a drink again.

After leading the Bucks to their first NBA championship in 50 years, Giannis Antetokounmpo has somehow made himself even more popular in the city of Milwaukee. Jeff Passan is reporting that Giannis has completed talks to become a part-owner of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Giannis has played his entire eight-season career with the Bucks, winning a pair of MVPs and a Defensive Player of the Year Award. However, two straight disappointing exits in the playoffs had raised questions about whether he would eventually ask for a trade. Instead, he committed to the city in resounding fashion, signing a five-year, $228 million extension in December and then leading the Bucks on this championship run.

Buying even a partial stake in the city’s baseball team is just another sign that he isn’t going anywhere.

Giannis could be securing his midwest legacy by buying into the Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers are currently 74-48 with a hefty lead on the Cinncinati Reds. 538’s MLB projection model gives them an 8 percent chance of winning the World Series this season, trailing only the Dodgers, Astros and Rays. Maybe Giannis sees another championship run coming and just wants to secure himself a spot at the parade.

But even if this season doesn’t even with a World Series title for the Brewers, residents of Milwaukee have to be feeling very, very optimistic about their sports future.
