Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees

MLB Twitter roasts Jeff Nelson for trying to keep Yankees in the playoff race

Umpire Jeff Nelson ejected Minnesota Twins umpire Rocco Baldelli after some controversial non-strike calls. Then, Aaron Judge hit a game-tying home run.

Nelson has been doing this for a long time, so he’s surely used to receiving the vitriol of opposing fans on social media, even if that is considered new school.

In Monday’s Twin-Yankees matinee, Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli was ejected after Nelson aided New York in putting several runners on base with some…curious calls.

Because this is the Twins, who only exist as a Yankees punching bag, Judge tied the game a mere moments later.

This is my shocked face.

Do the Yankees get more calls than other teams? Surely, no. That’s an overreaction, and over the course of any entire season, simply can not be calculated. Umpires suck for every MLB team. The Yankees are no different.

When the Yankees needed a big moment, Aaron Judge delivered

Judge delivered a huge home run with the Yankees’ season on the line. Whether it’ll be enough to defeat the lowly Twins as New York is reeling remains to be seen.

The Yankees’ putrid bullpen doesn’t help matters.

Twitter still destroyed Nelson for good measure, as is often the case with bad umpiring.

There were plenty more where that came from, and Nelson is no longer welcome in Minneapolis.
