Red Sox: David Ortiz had best reaction Rafael Devers’ massive home run

Red Sox legend David Ortiz had plenty to save about Rafael Devers’ huge home run to send Boston to the postseason.

Ortiz last played for the Red Sox in 2016, and put together a Hall-of-Fame career in both Minnesota and Boston. With the Red Sox, he hit 541 home runs, so he knows a thing or two about huge clutch hits.

The Sox were facing an ideal scenario heading into Sunday’s game — win and they’re in. Should they lose, they’d face a play-in game with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Nationals held a 5-1 lead in the middle innings, but Boston mounted a comeback. Rafael Devers cemented their spot in the postseason in the top of the ninth with a two-run homer.

Ortiz has remained a Sox supporter since retiring in 2016, even during his time as an analyst for FOX Sports.

On Twitter, Ortiz shouted out Devers for his home run.

On Instagram, Ortiz gave his life reaction to the blast. To no one’s surprise, he was as lively as ever.

Wild Card and playoff tickets will be available on the Red Sox official website.

Late-game wins by Boston and New York make for a heartbreaking end to the season for the Blue Jays, who looked to be in prime position to force a play-in game.
