Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, MLB Free Agency, New York Yankees

These 3 contenders all pursued signing Noah Syndergaard

While the Los Angeles Angels won the Noah Syndergaard sweepstakes, three other clubs were hoping to land his signature.

Come next spring, Noah Syndergaard is all set to start taking the bump for the Los Angeles Angels. While this news might be heartbreaking for New York Mets fans, the veteran hurler has decided a fresh start is needed on the other side of the country.

With that said, it looks like the Angels weren’t the only team interested in stealing Syndergaard from the Queens side. According to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, the Yankees, Braves and Red Sox all reached out to Syndergaard’s camp to show interest.

Noah Syndergaard’s free agency was more popular than first thought

With Syndergaard receiving so much interest here, this simply must add to the excitement for the Los Angeles supporters in getting him. Syndergaard missed all of the 2020 campaign after undergoing Tommy John Surgery. He then missed nearly all of 2021, but managed to make one appearance late in the season.

Looking ahead to 2022, the hard-throwing vet is ready to remind folks of just how good he can be on the bump after missing so much time. The Angels were clearly comfortable in putting a $21 million offer on the table for him, while the Yankees, Red Sox and Braves were ready to see what it would take to sign him as well.

At the end of the day, the Angels were aggressive in their pursuits and they ended up winning out. Now, Syndergaard will be ready to thank the front office by recording some stellar performances next spring and summer. For the other teams who wanted him, it’s back to the drawing board in trying to find an impressive starter out in free agency.
