Milwaukee Brewers, MLB Postseason

Baseball fans are roasting Christian Yelich for striking out to end Brewers season

Christian Yelich’s forgettable season got even more so as he ended the Brewers season with a strikeout and now fans are roasting him for it.

MLB and Milwaukee Brewers fans alike spent much of the 2021 season wondering where the MVP version of Christian Yelich had gone to. The slugging outfielder struggled mightily throughout the year by his standards but, with the Brew Crew taking on the Braves in the ALDS, people were holding out hope that he might turn it around.

Instead, he added an unfortunate exclamation mark to his substandard season.

After Freddie Freeman put Atlanta ahead 5-4 with a solo home run in the eighth inning, the Brewers had one more chance to try and tie the game and at least force the Braves to bat again. But after two outs (including a horrific bunt attempt by Kolten Wong), Yelich stepped to the plate. With the season on the line, he struck out.

Christian Yelich got no mercy from baseball fans for his season-ending strikeout

Suffice it to say, the reactions on Twitter to the Christian Yelich strikeout that abruptly halted the Brewers’ postseason run were less than kind to the former MVP:

It’s a tough scene for the Milwaukee outfielder. He has looked like an absolute shell of himself since an injury sidelined him over the past two years. While true, it’s clear that fans hoped for a much better at-bat than the one he delivered with the Brewers’ season hanging in the balance.

Suffice it to say, it might be a while before he lives this strikeout down, at least as far as MLB Twitter is concerned.
