Clint Frazier shades Yankees, glad he’s no longer in New York

Clint Frazier came to the Yankees with a ton of promise but never panned out. After signing with the Cubs, though, he threw real shade at New York.

As a former top-five pick and one of the top prospects in baseball, the New York Yankees certainly had high hopes at one time for Clint Frazier. However, for a litany of reasons, it never quite panned out for the outfielder in the Bronx.

Subsequently, Frazier, who was originally drafted by Cleveland and came to New York by way of a trade, departed the pinstripes this offseason and signed with the Chicago Cubs, an organization still banking on the potential of the 27-year-old.

Now heading to the Windy City once the lockout subsides, though, Frazier didn’t hesitate to take a shot at his former club on Twitter. When one fan suggested that they were glad the outfielder was no longer on the Yankees, Frazier replied plainly that he was glad too.

Clint Frazier is glad he’s no longer on the Yankees

Frazier’s time in New York was far from smooth throughout his tenure with the franchise, so it does stand to reason why he’d be glad to move on.

From his issues with cutting his hair and facial hair to his battle with the organization about wearing the retired No. 7 (retired for Mickey Mantle), Frazier constantly seemed to find a new way to war with the Yankees.

Interestingly enough, though, he won’t get to wear No. 7 with the Cubs, either, as the number was already taken, meaning he’ll don No. 77 again.

After these comments, though, Yankees fans — not ones to hold back their opinions in their own right — will probably be glad to see Frazier in another clubhouse now too.
