Shohei Ohtani hit his first home run of the season, and brought back the cowboy hat celebration.
Through the first seven games of the 2022 season, Los Angeles Angels star and reigning American League MVP Shohei Ohtani had yet to hit his first home run of the season. Ohtani even tried performing CPR on his baseball bat to try and get his first homer of the year.
Well, Angels fans, the day has finally arrived. During Friday, Apr. 15’s game against the Texas Ranger, Ohtani took the first pitch of the game and sent it over the right-center field fence to give Los Angeles an early 1-0 lead.

As Ohtani entered the dugout, he was given a cowboy hat to wear to celebrate.
The Angels began wearing the cowboy hat during the Tuesday, Apr. 12 game against the Miami Marlins, when Anthony Rendon hit a home run. Then, Mike Trout donned the hat when he hit a home run against the Rangers on Apr. 14.
It took until his eighth game of the year, but Ohtani has his first home run of the 2022 campaign.
