Which three prospects should the Chicago Cubs look to promote next?

The Chicago Cubs got off to a surprising 6-4 start during the first 10 games of the 2022 season and a few folks in the Windy City were hopeful that their team could make surprise run at the National League Central Division title this season.

Unfortunately for Cubs fans, reality has hit over the last few weeks and the Cubbies have gone 3-14 over their las 17 contests. The Cubs now sit just ahead of the woeful Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central.

Chicago just lost Marcus Stroman to the Injured List and Frank Schwindel was optioned to Triple-A Iowa. Things are not looking up for the Wrigleyville faithful, and it may be time to turn an eye toward the future and call up some of the club’s talented prospects. Which three prospects should the Chicago Cubs elevate to the big leagues next?

Cubs rumors: Prospect Brennen Davis should be called up

While it may seem a bit premature to promote Brennen Davis to the big leagues, what do the Chicago Cubs have to lose? Davis’ minor career has been highlighted by the outfielders ability to make adjustments, and making the leap to the big leagues would offer the same challenge that the 22-year-old would no doubt meet head on.

Davis is an athletic freak whose speed and power project him to have a very high ceiling. However, like many power-hungry prospects, Davis has struggled to make contact, though it’s not fair to claim that he’s always swinging for the fences.

After making a great impression in 2021, appearing at three different levels in the minors, Brennen Davis has struggled to get his legs under him during the early-going of the 2022 season at Triple-A Iowa.

Last season, however, Davis showed what he was capable of. The former second-round pick posted an OPS of .869 and a wRC+ of 141. It will be very tempting for the Cubs front office to call up Davis in the near future, especially after watching Jason Heyward struggle so badly to begin the 2022 season.
