3 players from the 2021 Giants that are failing miserably elsewhere.

While the San Francisco Giants continue their annual fight against the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West lead, they have had players come and go since last year’s 107-win, NL West-winning performance.

A whole slew of players including Donovan Solano, Kris Bryant, Mauricio Dubon, Skye Bolt, Kevin Gausman, Johnny Cueto, Matt Wisler, Aaron Sanchez and Jose Quintana are all wearing different uniforms this season. The trade deadline should be very interesting for this team.

Who are 3 former Giants that are struggling with their new clubs?

#3 – LHP Sam Selman (Oakland Athletics)

Sam Selman, 31, spent just a small amount of time on the Oakland A’s big league roster before he was designated for assignment back in April.

Selman made just six appearances at the major league level and managed just a 5.14 ERA (4.84 FIP), ten strikeouts and four earned runs allowed.

The struggles he endured in the beginning of the season are not too much of a surprise, as he has never quite taken off at the big league level (although he did have 19+ innings of 3.72 ERA ball in 2020). Over the course of his career, he has 65 games under his belt with a 4.82 ERA and 4.91 FIP. Selman is not much of a strikeout (or walk) pitcher and has trouble with the longball at times, so he may not resurface again this season.
