The Detroit Tigers are reportedly open for business at the trade deadline. There are three players the Atlanta Braves should consider acquiring.

The MLB trade deadline is less than a week away, as teams can move and/or acquire players by Aug. 2 at 6:00 p.m. ET. There were teams expected to sell at the deadline, such as the Washington Nationals, Oakland Athletics, and Cincinnati Reds. Now, there is a new team to add to the sellers list.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Detroit Tigers are willing to trade starting pitcher Tarik Skubal and revealed that “just about everyone is available.”

That will be welcome news for teams looking to make a push for the World Series. The Atlanta Braves fit that bill, as they are on the New York Mets’ tail for first place in the NL East, and are looking to repeat as World Series champions.

The Braves should be taking a look at the Tigers, and consider acquiring one of these three players.

Braves rumors: 3 Tigers trade chips Atlanta should pursue at the deadline

Tarik Skubal, SP

Let’s get started with Skubal, the player Rosenthal named in his report. When it comes to value, Skubal carries the most of it. For teams looking to hoist a Commissioner’s Trophy at the end, their odds increase by bolstering their starting rotation.

In his third season with the Tigers, Skubal recorded a 3.88 ERA, a 1.172 WHIP, a 7-8 record, 111 strikeouts, and 27 walks over 106.2 innings (19 starts).

The Braves are in the market for a starting pitcher at the trade deadline. The Athletic’s Jim Bowden notes in his latest article that Atlanta will “jump at the opportunity” to add Reds pitcher Luis Castillo if they were to get the chance. But, Castillo is arguably the most sought-after pitcher leading up to the deadline, so there is no guarantee that the Braves will be able to acquire him.

It may take a lot to get Skubal away from the Tigers, but the Braves should at least keep tabs on him if other deals for starting pitchers are to fall through.
