Find out the likely landing spots around the league for every Cubs player that could be traded at the upcoming MLB trade deadline!

It’s safe to say that the Cubs weren’t expecting the 2022 season to go exactly as it has. I’m sure they were hoping to have a better record come late July than being 17 games under .500. Their current record is an awful 40-57, despite having won six games in a row. They are 13.5 games behind the first-place Brewers and 10.5 games back of a Wild Card spot.

Therefore, it makes sense that the Cubs will be sellers come the trade deadline. Reading through all the Cubs rumors, six names rise to the top of the list of those expected to be on the trade block. Each of these players will be looked at as if they are traded separately. Even the players know they are about to be traded.

The 6 Likely Trade Destinations for Every Cubs Player likely Traded

Cubs rumors: Chris Martin, RHP Trade Destination

Chris Martin is a pending free agent that is capable of providing strong late-inning bullpen help for a contender. That’s why the Cubs are definitely going to be trading the elder reliever for anything they can get. He’s an extremely cheap option to help flesh out a contender’s bullpen or cover for an injury.

After winning the World Series last year with the Braves, the Coldplay lead singer…Wait. Sorry, wrong person. The baseball Chris Martin has pitched in 33 games, giving 30 solid innings of 4.50 ERA/3.22 FIP ball. He’s struck out 37 while walking a minuscule 4 batters. He’s owed roughly $1.25 million through the end of the season, which means he’s a terrific addition for a team that’s in the tax. There’s one team in mind that just suffered a big injury to their bullpen and already needed late-inning help prior to losing their set-up man.

Likely Trade Destination: New York Yankees

Cubs rumors: Patrick Wisdom, 3B Trade Destination

This is a rumor that is slowly gaining steam. It’s also one I believe in after discovering how much Patrick Wisdom doesn’t fit the Cubs’ rebuild. While he isn’t a free agent until 2027, Wisdom is already 30 years old. This means that by the time the Cubs rebuild is over, he will be over 32 years old at least. As a late bloomer, Wisdom may not even be in the MLB still by the time his service time hits six years.

That’s why the Cubs should be smart and trade Wisdom while his value is high. He’s provided decent defense at the hot corner while giving the Cubs a ton of strong contact. He leads the league in Ks at 129 but has walked a very healthy 42 times. He reaches base plenty and even has six stolen bases. The calling card to Patrick Wisdom is his power, as he has hit 21 doubles and 17 HRs with 47 RBI. With only 1+ years in service time, Wisdom is making near the league minimum, which will fit into the budget of any team in the MLB.

There’s one contender in mind that I’m thinking of that needs a third baseman, more power, and cheap contracts with plenty of control.

Likely Trade Destination: Tampa Bay Rays
