A World Series invader tried and failed to make his escape in the middle of Game 5, and was instead caught by local police at Citizens Bank Park.
A streaker jumped on the field in the middle of Game 5, in hopes of eventually making a convenient exit. That isn’t how things went, of course.
Very rarely do matters work out well for the person, whomever they may be.
Getting onto the field in the first place doesn’t seem to be an issue. The problem remains, though, that very few know how to make their escape. For one baseball fan on Thursday night, that plan involved scaling the left field fence.
Yeah, that was never going to work. Professional athletes can barely make that leap to rob a home run, let alone your Average Joe.
World Series streaker: What happened?
The FOX broadcast was unamused, and was ESPN’s Jeff Passan, who referred to the trespasser as an idiot.
Avoiding a taser is a win in itself.
Avoiding Kyle Schwarber, who easily could have intervened to put said invader in a choke hold, is also a moral victory.
While we don’t have the Kevin Harlan edition, please do enjoy the Japanese broadcast.

World Series Game 5 delay
As for the Astros and Phillies, they have a game to finish, and having it interrupted by some random attention seeker won’t do them any favors as they focus at the task at hand.
Some claim it’s an Astros fan, though that hasn’t been verified. The’fan’ took off their jersey mid-run, as if it would help them jump the fence.
Not so much.
The close-up angle won’t help that theory, as it’s tough to tell who the jersey belongs to in the first place.
