The Houston Astros enter the 2023 season as the reigning World Series champions. Could these three moves help ensure the Astros earn a repeat title?

Stacked with what has been ranked as the top lineup among all MLB teams entering the 2023 campaign, the Houston Astros are in an excellent position to return to the Fall Classic.

However, it’s highly unlikely that the Astros will sit idly by and not try to improve the team as the season goes along. With that in mind, here are three players we believe could make a strong Astros team even stronger in 2023.

Astros rumors: Trade for Bryan Reynolds

As our own Robert Murray pointed out in this article, there have been mixed signals coming from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Reynolds, especially after his name has been in the rumor mill for months now and Reynolds shook up the MLB Winter Meetings by requesting a trade in the middle of them. The reported asking price for Reynolds is reportedly high by the Pirates, a move that makes sense with Reynolds being their most prized asset and the player who projects to be their best player this season.

Trading for Reynolds would be a move that would solidify center field for the Astros, a place where Chas McCormick gave some stability in the postseason. However, on paper, it’s still one of the few weak points for Houston this year.

Reynolds would immediately get a chance to compete for a ring and Houston, while reportedly having to give up players who are MLB-ready to land him, would have an even more dangerous lineup than they do right now. Sure, it’s a dream scenario, but it’s one that, if it came to life, would be a nightmare for any other MLB team who has to beat the Astros in the postseason.
