Bombs away: Giants bombard White Sox after bizarre Anthony DeSclafani drama (Video)

San Francisco Giants pitcher Anthony DeSclafani got into it with the Chicago White Sox after a weak grounder to first base. Then, the lineup made Chicago pay.

A relatively pedestrian outing from Anthony DeSclafani got interesting when he traded barbs with Chicago White Sox slugger Andrew Vaughn. Vaughn, who swung at a 3-0 pitch, appeared to make a comment towards the Giants infield.

It’s unknown what spurred such a response from DeSclafani, who had to be restrained from further action against Vaughn. However, it certainly got the Giants attention.

Thankfully, this testy exchange didn’t last long enough for the dugouts to empty, but depending on what was said, look for further action later this series. Things just got interesting in an otherwise normal interleague series between Chicago and San Francisco.

Giants respond to Anthony DeSclafani in big way

Whatever happened between DeScalfani and Vaughn seemed to amp up the San Francisco lineup, which had been lacking at times during their previous series against the New York Yankees, which they lost.

Defeats in their first two matchups of the season would be deflating for Giants fans, especially after they lost out on Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa this offseason. Thankfully, they appear well on their way to notching a win on Monday afternoon.

San Francisco homered four times in the fifth inning, thanks to Michael Conforto, Thairo Estrada, Mike Yastrzemski and David Villar.

When the Giants missed on Judge and Correa this offseason, the front office preached patience. This is team that has performed well above the sum of its parts for years, and plan on the same approach this season.

In a loaded division that features the high-priced Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, the Giants must surprise most pundits and prognosticators, as well as some of their own self-doubting fanbase.

Anything can happen in baseball.
