Starting pitcher Logan Webb and the Giants came to terms on a long-term contract that will keep the young pitcher in San Francisco.
Right-hander Logan Webb and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a five-year, $90 million contract extension, according to sources familiar with the deal. The deal is pending a physical.
Webb and the Giants held brief long-term extension talks around spring training, but were far apart in negotiations. The two sides rekindled negotiations around Opening Day and were able to finalize an agreement to keep the promising 26-year-old pitcher in San Francisco for the next five seasons.

Webb is now entrenched as the Giants’ ace. In 32 games last season, he posted a 2.90 ERA and a 163/49 strikeout-to-walk ratio. While he has started with a 6.35 ERA in his first three outings this season, the Giants are clearly confident that it’s a small blip on the radar, and that Webb will soon re-emerge as one of the best young pitchers’ in baseball.
The Giants have long envisioned Webb and promising young prospect Kyle Harrison being their long-term answers atop their rotation, giving San Francisco its best group of pitchers since Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner and Tim Lincecum. With Webb signed long-term, and Harrison expected to debut at some point during the 2023 regular season, that vision will soon become reality.
Webb becomes the first player on the Giants’ roster to be under contract in 2026. Under president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, the organization has been open to long-term deals (Carlos Correa, Aaron Judge) but have preferred short-term deals in order to maintain payroll flexibility. But the organization viewed extending Webb as a priority — and on Thursday, both sides came to an agreement on a long-term deal to keep the right-hander in San Francisco.
