Astros vs. Braves prediction and odds for Saturday, April 22 (Astros are the bet to make)

Game 2 of an interleague series between the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves is set to take place on Saturday night.

The first game of this 2021 World Series rematch went to the Astros, beating the Braves by a final score of 6-4.

Framber Valdez (1.80 ERA) will take the mound for the Astros in Game 2, and he’ll face-off against Kyle Wright (6.23 ERA) of the Braves.

Let’s dive into the odds for the game and then I’ll give you my best bet.

Astros vs. Braves prediction and pick

Framber Valdez has picked up right where he left off to start his 2023 campaign. Despite a 1-2 record, he’s sporting a 1.80 ERA in four starts, allowing just five earned runs in a combined 25 innings.

Now, he gets to face-off against Kyle Wright, who has allowed six earned runs across 8.2 innings in his first two starts of the season. Wright is looking to match last year’s performance when he lead the National League in wins, but a 6.23 ERA isn’t going to get it done and last year is starting to look like an anomaly.

The concern for the game, if you’re betting on the Astros like me, is their offense. They rank just 16th in OPS (0.719) through the first few weeks of the season, which has led to a 10-10 record ahead of tonight’s game.

Still, the advantage in the starting pitching matchup alone is enough for me to back Houston on the moneyline tonight.
