Twins vs. Angels prediction and odds for Sunday, May 21 (Take the OVER)

The Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels split the first two games of their three-game set over the weekend and now today’s finale will serve as a rubber match.

The Angels will be trotting out Shohei Ohtani to be their starting pitcher today and he’ll face Pablo Lopez of the Twins.

Despite the strong pitching matchup, I expect plenty of runs in this game.

Let’s take a look at the odds and then I’ll break down why I think the OVER is the bet to make.

Twins vs. Angels odds, run line, and total

Twins vs. Angels prediction and pick

The Angels have been a top 10 offense for the majority of the season, ranking 10th in OPS amongst all Major League teams. They’re also 8th in runs per game with the Twins coming in close behind at 11th.

The two teams score an average combined 9.72 runs per game, well over the set total for this game.

With the strong pitching matchup, you may be scared to take the OVER, especially with Ohtani on the mound. But, with that being said, Ohtani has stumbled a bit of late. He has allowed at least three earned runs in four of his last five starts.

Also, his 4.22 FIP (Field Independent Pitching) is much higher than his ERA of 3.23, hinting at some potential regression.

Lopez has also struggled in recent games, allowing five earned runs in three of his last five starts.

Let’s sit back and root for runs in this American League showdown.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
