Padres vs. Yankees prediction and odds for Friday, May 26 (Take the OVER)

The San Diego Padres are heading to the Bronx to take on the New York Yankees for a weekend series.

The two teams will open up their series on Friday night and the game will be headlined by the first ever Major League start for Yankees pitching prospect, Randy Vasquez.

Can he get the win in his first start?

Let’s take a look at the betting odds for Game 1 tonight.

Padres vs. Yankees odds, run line, and total

Padres vs. Yankees prediction and pick

Yankees fans should be concerned with Randy Vasquez making his first start in the Majors tonight. He has a 4.85 ERA in nine starts at the AAA level this season, but that isn’t even the main issue in his game.

Vasquez has walked 11.7% of batters in AAA this season and now he has to make his first Major League start against the Padres, whose offense has the second highest walk rate in MLB at 11.1%.

That means Vasquez may be walking plenty of batters tonight which will inevitably result in runs for the Padres.

So, that means we should bet on the Padres, right? Not so fast.

Jo Musgrove has been a disaster on the mound this season, sporting an ERA of 6.75 while allowing three or more earned runs in four of his five starts in 2023.

So, the only answer is to bet the OVER. Both teams shouldn’t have too much of an issue scoring runs, especially early on while the starters are still in the game.

Let’s sit back and root for runs in this interleague showdown.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
