Corbin Carroll MVP odds surging amidst incredible rookie season

Two rookies have ever won MVP in Major League Baseball, could we be getting a third?

Arizona Diamondbacks rookie, Corbin Carroll, has taken the league by storm in 2023. He’s the overwhelming favorite to win National League Rookie of the Year and now is generating MVP buzz.

The D-Backs are 3.5 games clear of the Dodgers in the NL West, paced by Carroll’s excellence, and his stats are tough to ignore. Arizona’s rookie is leading the National League in slugging percentage and OPS as well as WAR for batters this season.

Carroll is still a relative longshot to win the award, +1200 behind the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr., Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, but his statistical profiles is comparable to the players in front of him.

The rookie is hitting above .300 on a top 10 offense that is competing for the best record in the National League. He is pushing to be the third ever rookie to win the award after Fred Lynn did it for the Red Sox in 1975 and Ichiro won it for the Mariners in 2001.

If he keeps this up, the conversation will quickly turn from Carroll being a sure thing at Rookie of the Year to a viable MVP candidate.
