The New York Yankees are in trouble.
New York has lost four straight – getting swept by the Boston Red Sox over the weekend – moving it to just 9-14 when Aaron Judge is out of the lineup.
New York is hoping to turn things around with Gerrit Cole (7-1, 2.75 ERA) on the mound against Seattle youngster George Kirby (6-5 ,3.24 ERA).
Kirby dominated the Yankees in his last matchup against them, tossing eight scoreless innings in a Seattle win. With Cole on the mound, the Yankees are a slight favorite at home.
Here’s how to bet on this Tuesday night matchup:
Mariners vs. Yankees odds, run line and total
Mariners vs. Yankees prediction and pick
The Yankees are 11-4 in Cole’s starts this season, but he’s lost back-to-back outings despite pitching well.
Cole has allowed just three runs in 12.0 innings of work in those outings, but the Yankees offense continues to struggle with Judge out of the lineup.
The team couldn’t touch Kirby in Seattle, but the Mariners second-year starter has been up and down as of late.
Kirby has allowed seven, zero, five and zero earned runs over his last four starts – a real tale of two starters.
If the good Kirby shows up at Yankee Stadium – and it should since he’s a native of Rye, New York – the Yankees’ bats are in trouble.
Cole has been awesome, but I don’t know how to back this Yankees team on a losing streak when the bats are dormant.
Give me Seattle to win as a slight underdog.
